Product Description
Anti-GOLGA5 Antibody is a mouse monoclonal antibody designed to recognize human GOLGA5. It has been tested for Western Blot (WB) applications and is supplied as a purified antibody preparation.
GOLGA5, also known as Golgin-84, is a Golgi-associated protein involved in maintaining Golgi structure. It contributes to the organization of Golgi stacks and ribbons and participates in intra-Golgi retrograde transport.
UniProt Accession: Q8TBA6
Recommended Application: Western Blot (WB)
Biological Background
GOLGA5 is a Golgi-associated membrane protein that plays a role in the structural organization of the Golgi apparatus. It is involved in the formation and maintenance of Golgi stacks and ribbon structures, supporting the organization of this important cellular organelle.
GOLGA5 also participates in intra-Golgi retrograde transport, a process that contributes to the recycling and redistribution of proteins and membrane components within the Golgi system.
The protein is reported to be ubiquitously expressed, with particularly high expression in seminiferous tubules and Leydig cells of the testis.
Key Features
- Target specificity: Recognizes human GOLGA5.

Subcellular Localization
GOLGA5 is localized to the Golgi apparatus membrane and is described as a single-pass type IV membrane protein. It is found throughout the Golgi, including the cisternae and, at higher abundance, the tubulo-vesicular structures of the cis-Golgi network.
Protein Function & Tissue Expression
Biological Function
- Involved in maintaining Golgi structure.
- Stimulates the formation of Golgi stacks and ribbons.
- Participates in intra-Golgi retrograde transport.
Tissue Specificity
GOLGA5 is ubiquitously expressed. Expression is particularly high in seminiferous tubules and Leydig cells in the testis, while lower levels are detected in other tested tissues. Expression is very low or not detectable in spermatozoa.
